May 19, 2010;
Monterey, CA: Officials from the Monterey Peninsula Water Management
District (MPWMD or District) announced that its Phase 1 Aquifer Storage and Recovery
(ASR) Project met a major milestone yesterday—that is, injecting 1,000
acre-feet (AF) of excess flow from the Carmel River into the Seaside
Groundwater Basin in one season. One acre-foot is about 326,000
gallons, and is enough to support four Monterey Peninsula
homes for a year.

Fuerst determines that implementation of Stage 5 Water
Rationing shall be postponed for ninety (90) days, pursuant to District
Rule 165-A-4. Refer to April
23, 2010 Declaration.

On April 22, 2010, Santa
Clara Superior Court ruled to lift the stay on Order WR 2009-0060,
known as the Cease & Desist Order (CDO), issued by the State Water
Resources Control Board in October 2009. This action reversed the
stay of the CDO imposed by Monterey County Superior Court at the request of
the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District in November 2009.

On January 28, 2010 the Board of Directors adopted Ordinance No.
142 that amended Regulation XV, the Expanded Water Conservation and
Standby Rationing Plan.
